What is a KeyNest Point?
A KeyNest Point is either a local business (bodega, store, cafe, hotel) that has signed a partnership with KeyNest, or a locker located in a designated public space.

Is KeyNest secure?
Yes - our KeyNest Points are totally secure by design! Keys are always stored anonymously, and will only be handled by trained staff. Our automated lockers are all fitted with security cameras.
When you initially deposit your key at a KeyNest Point, it gets paired with an NFC fob. This key fob helps in easily recognizing and securely storing your key. By using this system, KeyNest ensures the safekeeping and anonymity of your keys.

How does a guest or cleaner collect a key?
All you have to do is pass them the relevant KeyNest collection code. The shopkeeper at the designated KeyNest Point, thanks to the code, will be able to correctly pass the key associated with the code to the guest. For a locker key collection, your guest has to follow the steps shown on the locker screen, and input their collection code. Once the locker opens, they can collect the key.
How do I know my key has been collected or dropped off?
You will receive an email notification whenever your key gets collected or dropped off.

I can't find a KeyNest Point near me, what do I do?
No need to panic! Just fill out our request form to let us know that you’d like us to open a KeyNest Point in your area. To get your new Point up and running as quickly as possible, it would be great if you could suggest a convenient bodega or store that we could recruit. We're only able to guarantee a new KeyNest Point for customers who sign up to our annual plan - but we aim to get back to all requests within two weeks.
What happens if my guest does not drop off the key while checking out?
Check-outs usually have a specific time. The guest must drop off their key before or at this time. As a host, you receive instant notification whenever the key has been dropped-off or collected. So if the guest has not returned the key for their check-out, you will know and could contact them immediately to fix this. As an emergency plan, if nothing else can be done, and the guests have already left, we recommend liaising with the cleaner to pick up the key from the property if they’re around.
Can I switch Points (stores) if I have already dropped off my key?
Our codes and key fobs are compatible across all of our KeyNest Points network. If you have purchased collection codes, they can be used in any of our Points. When creating a code, you have the option to change the selected Point by clicking on "Change."
If there are any changes to your KeyNest Point collection process, it is essential to keep your guests updated, to avoid confusion. Please note that for the lockers, you must select the correct locker location, as the generated collection codes will only work for that specific locker. This is because the locker system is different from our KeyNest Points system.
Do I have to pay to get my key back?
To retrieve your key, you will be required to provide a collection code. If you have chosen the Pay As You Go plan and your key is still in the KeyNest Point, you will need to generate a new collection code to collect it. However, if you are on a Monthly/Annual plan, you can select the key in your dashboard, click on "Get a Collection Code" and get it without any additional charges.
What should I do if I lose or damage my KeyNest fob?
Our fobs are pretty sturdy, but if they’re damaged or lost - give us a call on 646-912-7070 and we’ll help.
Which plan is best for me?
If you prefer to use KeyNest occasionally, you have the option of utilizing it on a per-use basis. With the $7.95 plan, you will receive your drop-off code, collection code, and the ability to redeposit the key at a single KeyNest Point. If you anticipate making more than two collections or require unlimited storage, opting for a monthly subscription is a better choice. Please note that a separate subscription is required for each key created.
How do monthly/annual plans work?
Once you subscribe to a monthly or annual subscription, the payment will be deducted at the respective frequency (monthly or annually). Your subscription will become active immediately upon subscribing. You will instantly receive the drop-off code for your key and the first collection code for a guest or contractor, allowing you to use the service without delay. These subscriptions can be canceled at any time. It's important to note that any ongoing period will still be due and charged. The subscriptions renew automatically on the expiration date.
By subscribing, you gain unlimited access to all services, including key drop-offs, collections, storage, and access to various features that enhance key exchange. You need a separate subscription for each key set since the payment is calculated based on the number of key sets you have.
Do KeyNest subscriptions renew automatically?
Yes! For easy continuity, all monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically on the exact date and time that the subscription was originally created. There is no limit to how short your monthly subscription can be, and you are free to cancel your monthly and yearly subscriptions at any point before the next renewal.
How do I cancel my subscription?
To cancel your subscription, log in to your KeyNest account, navigate to the "Billing" section, and locate your subscription. Click on it, and then select "Cancel subscription". Once you initiate the cancellation, it will take immediate effect, and all collection codes associated with the subscription will be deleted. If you’re on a monthly/annual plan, please collect your keys from the Point before canceling the plan, to avoid additional storage and key collection charges
Can I register and use more than one key?
Yes! In your KeyNest dashboard, you have an overview of all your keys. You can easily manage multiple keys, pick a different plan (Pay As You Go or Monthly/Annual subscription) for each key, and access comprehensive historical movement data for each key.
I use a PMS or channel manager, can I automate the use of KeyNest?

How do I communicate check-in instructions to my guest?
Unless you have an automated integration with your Property Management System (PMS), you must send the instructions to your guests manually. We offer a convenient solution to enhance the guest experience through our Magic Link feature. When generating the collection code, simply click on "copy the Magic Link." You can then include this unique link in the communication you send to your guests.
The Magic Link provides comprehensive information to the person collecting the key. It includes the name, and address of the KeyNest Point (along with a storefront photo), opening hours, and the collection code that needs to be communicated to the shopkeeper to collect the key.
The information provided in the Magic Link is updated in real-time, reflecting the current status of the key (available or not) and the validity of the code.
How long does it take to install a new KeyNest Point if I need a new location?
If there is no KeyNest Point located within walking distance of your property, please inform us by completing the form provided on our website. You can access the form by clicking the button located at the bottom of the page. Once we receive your request, our dedicated teams will review it and get in touch with you to evaluate your requirements. We aim to establish a new KeyNest Point within approximately 2 weeks.
